    Automotive industry: Tunisia-Italy cooperation strengthens to accelerate integration into global value chains

    On 24 and 25 June 2026, the Tunisia-Italy Economic and Business Forum brought together institutional representatives, investors and business leaders in Tunis to consolidate economic relations between the two countries and identify new opportunities for industrial cooperation and investment.

    Strengthening Tunisia–U.S. Bridges for the Automotive Industry

    The Tunisian Automotive Association (TAA) had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Mr. Bill Bazzi, U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia, and a U.S. delegation accompanied by Mr. Marouane BEN JEMAA, President of AmCham Tunisia, for a meeting dedicated to cooperation opportunities between the Tunisian and American automotive ecosystems.
    The delegation was received by Mrs. Myriam Elloumi, President of the TAA, and Mr. Nabhen Bouchaala, Honorary President, in the presence of Board members Mr. Jemli Issam and Mr. riadh ben ayed, as well as Mrs. Fatma Kolsi, General Manager of the TAA.

    Discussions identified several high-potential areas of collaboration, industrial partnerships, innovation, skills development and the integration of Tunisian companies into global value chains. Beyond economic opportunities, the meeting reaffirmed the value of dialogue between institutions and private-sector players in advancing structuring projects and deepening Tunisia–U.S. ties.
    As the reference platform for Tunisia’s automotive industry, the TAA continues its mission of building bridges between companies, investors, and international partners to support an ever more competitive, innovative, and globally connected sector.

    The TAA extends its sincere thanks to His Excellency the Ambassador and to Mr. Marouane Ben Jemaa for this visit and for the quality of the exchanges, which open the way to new prospects for cooperation benefiting Tunisia’s automotive industry.

    Training, Integration and Automotive Partnership: a strategic lever for the competitiveness of the Tunisian automotive industry

      Regional integration: a competitiveness imperative

      The exchanges also highlighted the structuring role of the AfCFTA in building regional value chains. The objective is clear: to promote industrial specialization, strengthen complementarities between countries and facilitate the integration of African suppliers into interconnected ecosystems.

      Without this integration logic, the rise of the sector will remain limited.


      Brakes still to be lifted

      Despite the identified potential, several obstacles In particular, the speakers pointed out:

      • still insufficient access to industrial financing,
      • fragmentation of regulatory frameworks,
      • a lack of operational coordination between public actors and PRI The segments related to electric mobility, micromobility and R&D represent concrete opportunities to position Africa on more technology-intensive value chains.

        These dynamics make it possible to envisage faster development trajectories that are better aligned with global developments in the sector.




        An action-oriented dynamic

        Beyond the diagnosis, this panel is part of a resolutely operational logic. The objective is to bring out concrete solutions and structuring partnerships to accelerate the development of the sector.

        The roadmap is set: industrial upgrading, regional integration and innovation. The challenge now is to trigger a rapid and coordinated implementation.

    The Tunisian Automotive Association strengthens its international presence in Paris during the Automotive Personality of the Year Awards.

    The Tunisian Automotive Association confirmed its international positioning by participating in the Automotive Personality of the Year Award ceremony, organized by Le Journal de l'Automobile , in the prestigious setting of the Maison de la Chimie in Paris.

    This leading event in the automotive sector recognized Christophe Périllat , CEO of Valeo , who was praised for his strategic vision and leadership in the transformation of the industry.


    Tunisia's strong positioning as a co-innovation hub

    On this occasion, Myriam Elloumi , President of the TAA, spoke at a high-level panel bringing together key decision-makers from the international industrial and technological ecosystem, including:

    • Thomas Courbe , Director General – Directorate General for Enterprises
    • Antoine Vermeersch , Specialist Journalist – L'Usine Nouvelle
    • Sébastien Missoffe , Managing Director – Google France

    During her speech, Myriam Elloumi delivered a structuring message: Tunisia is entering a new phase of industrial maturity.

    The model based on simple execution is now a thing of the past. The country is now engaged in a dynamic of value creation, founded on advanced engineering, innovation, and strategic partnerships with international players.

    Thanks to the quality of its talent and the strength of its industrial fabric, Tunisia is now positioning itself as a credible and competitive co-innovation hub for Europe, capable of responding to the growing challenges of industrial sovereignty.
